The 2017 St Ethels Great Western Shiraz scooped the pool at this year’s Western Victorian Wine Challenge, in the process helping the Grampians retake the Regional Shield from the Pyrenees Region.
After winning the Best Shiraz Trophy, it beat winners of 7 other categories to take Wine of the Show. Thanks to a strong showing with a number of other wines, Grampians Estate also collected the Most Successful Exhibitor Trophy, in the process winning a new French Oak barrel.
This competition is in its 15th year and for wines from Ballarat, Pyrenees, Grampians and Henty wine regions. It differs from other shows in that there are additional prizes for the wines as judged by a panel of consumers.
The Cabernet Shiraz was given a Gold Medal by the Judges and won a prize as the Consumers Best ‘Other Red’ wine.
