19 Oct 2017 – Royal Melbourne Wine Awards
The soon-to-be released 2016 Grampians GST (Grenache Shiraz Tempranillo) has bought home a gold medal from Australia’s premier wine awards. This made it eligible for the prestigious Jimmy Watson Trophy. We missed out on the big one, which was won by a similar wine Turkey Flat 2016 Grenache.
21 October 2017 – Western Victorian Wine Challenge
This year, Grampians Estate bought home three trophies and ‘Most Successful Exhibitor’ award. The new 2016 Grampians GST was the star of the event, winning the Judges Trophy and the Consumers’ Trophy for Best ‘Other Red’. The 2005 Mafeking Shiraz won ‘Best Museum Wine Red’. The 2011 Rutherford Sparkling Shiraz finished second in the sparkling class, the 2014 Barrell Block Shiraz was one of five finalists in the very strong shiraz class, and the 2001 Mafeking Shiraz and 2006 St Ethels Shiraz were gold medallists and finalists in the museum class.
The new Most Successful Exhibitor award measures each wineries’ top five wines. With five gold medal winning wines, Grampians Estate was a narrow winner ahead of Bests and Seppelts. A great result for the Grampians wine industry!
