This wine is 86% Cabernet and 14% Shiraz. The Cabernet was sourced from Melbourne Polytechnic vineyard in Ararat. The wine was aged in French oak hogsheads of which 25% new oak. 13.0% alc. A cooler climate style of Cabernet, this wine has good dark red colour with aromas of mint, menthol and blackcurrant. The palate is flavoursome with blackberry flavours. It is surprisingly pleasant to enjoy as a young wine although I suspect it will improve with cellaring.
